Support and resistance are areas where earlier moves paused or turned. The highlighted zones in these made-up examples are clues, not exact walls.

Support: a possible floor

Look for a lower area where falls have paused.

Two falls pause around the highlighted lower support zone.

Resistance: a possible ceiling

Look for an upper area where rises have paused.

Two rises pause around the highlighted upper resistance zone.

A level can break

Price can move through either area.

The final green candle crosses above the earlier resistance zone.

Will support always stop a fall?

Show answer

No. A previous floor can break. A chart clue is not a promise.
