Privacy Policy

ChartQuest is a game that teaches you about charts and trading. This page explains, in plain words, what information we keep and how we look after it. If anything here is unclear, email us at [email protected].

What we collect

• Beta progress marks. While the game is in beta we record when you reach each step — tutorial started, first trade, boss fight, Journal found, survey done — plus how long a visit lasted, whether you had been before, and whether the game crashed. Each mark is tied to a random string made up on your device (something like p-4nb6ad7hgh). It is not your name and it is not your email, and we cannot use it to work out who you are.
• Basic device facts. Whether you are on a phone, tablet or computer, which browser, and the size of your screen. This tells us if something is broken on, say, small iPhones.
• Your beta survey answers, if you choose to fill the survey in. Please do not type anything private into the boxes — write about the game.
• If you make an account: your email address and a password. The password is handled by our sign-in provider (Supabase) and stored scrambled (hashed) — we never see or store your real password.
• Your game progress: your level, your in-game "shells" score, your practice-trade journal, notes and daily streak. This is only saved to our servers when you are signed in.
• A count of visits, with no name or email attached.
• Bug reports: if you send one, we keep the message you typed and basic game info so we can fix the problem.

What we do NOT collect

• No real name, home address, or phone number.
• No payment or bank details — the "shells" and trades in the game are pretend and have no real money value.
• No cookies for tracking, and no advertising.
• No following you around other websites. Nothing is shared with advertisers or data brokers, because we do not use any.
• We do not keep your IP address. Our servers see it for a moment to stop people flooding us with junk, and then it is gone.

Guest mode

If you play as a Guest, your saved game lives only on your own device, in your browser, and is never sent to us. Clearing your browser data removes it. The beta progress marks described above are still recorded, because they carry no account and no personal details.

Where your information is kept

• Supabase — stores accounts, progress and the beta records. Your account data is protected so that only your own signed-in account can read it.
• Cloudflare Pages — hosts the website.
• Google Fonts — delivers the lettering used on the site.
• Public market data — we read public market prices to draw the charts. We do not send any of your information to them.

How long we keep it

We keep your account and progress for as long as you have an account. Beta records are only useful while we are building, so we delete them once the beta is over.

Your choices

• You can play without an account (Guest mode).
• You can skip the survey. Nothing in the game is locked behind it.
• You can ask us to show you, or delete, anything tied to your account by emailing [email protected].
• You can sign out at any time from the account menu in the game.

Children and families

ChartQuest is an educational game that younger players may enjoy. We collect as little as possible and never require personal details beyond an email to save progress. Parents and guardians: if you believe your child created an account or gave us information and you want it removed, email [email protected] and we will delete it promptly.

Changes to this policy

If we change how we handle information, we will update this page and change the date at the top.
